Meanwhile, for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2nd generation :

For the game social networking features, it pretty much interesting. And maybe, knock out Xbox Live. LOL. Now, we can challenge player over the net. Nice!

As in folders, for jailbreakers, we already used to it by Categories application. However, since the Folders features update in iPhone OS 4.0, it pretty much preferable.

I do not bother much about iAd since it focus on the developers. I think, the iAd features will change the whole level of advertisement on mobile platform. User can interact with the advertisement without leaving their app.

Apple will host and serve the advertisement, and 60% of the profit goes to developers.

But, still NO FLASH. One of the ad use HTML5. LOL. Ouch, Adobe.

Oh ya, pretty much improve on Pandora and Skype too. Can't comment much since i miss the live event of it.

I wonder about my wifi issue will solve. Ouh, please.

Virtual Memory for iPhone

What is VM?
Virtual Memory, or VM, is exactly what it sounds like. Its virtual memory. Instead of using just the internal RAM, both of these methods create Swap Files on your Flash Drive (your iPhone "hard drive") and uses that file as extra RAM. To read more about VM, click here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_memory). You can check your memory from memtools (from cydia) or by using sbsetting.

Effect?
Well, several guy said it improve ur iphone perfomance while several say, it wont. Plus, crash. As for me, I find this VM stuff very efficient. No more lag. Faster in accessing the app. I'm using iPhone 3G fw 3.1

Downloads
iPhoneVM.deb. After install, reboot.

This is the modifiend .plist which is work for me. Put the .plist at /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ then reboot.

Uninstall
Open Cydia and uninstall it. (Should be at the very bottom of packages)
Now SSH into your iPhone and navigate to var/vm/ and delete the swap files inside. (DO NOT JUST DELETE THE ENTIRE var/vm DIRECTORY - ONLY DELETE THE FILES INSIDE)
Now navigate to System/Library/LaunchDaemons and delete the com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist file
REBOOT iPhone.
Done.

There are 2 ways to SSH into ur iphone, via wifi and USB. Well, using wifi is a common method. By using USB, we can use software for the purpose of SSH. I recommend two software, i-Funbox and Diskaid.

Diskaid vs i-Funbox

Diskaid - slower but u can copy paste the folder inside ur iPhone
i-Funbox - vice versa with Diskaid. So, use i-Funbox if u want to transfer file, and use Diskaid if u wanna work with folder.

iPhone OS 3.1.2 is out!

For this fw, it solve the sleep issues and some carrier problem stuff i think. Nevertheless, it also fix, :

• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
• Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

According to Geohot, blackra1n works well on 3.1.2. Just in matter of time, this new fw will be jailbroken. Blackra1n is a new jailbreak tool. Geohot will release this tool in few days time maybe. Let's hope for it. XD

Different between activated and unactivated?
ACTIVATED: For people who are not on official carriers and cannot activate using itunes.
UNACTIVATED: For people who are on official networks that can activate using itunes

What is 768Mb and 1Gb? 768Mb is root partition size. Bigger mean, u can install more apps from Cydia/Icy.

Steps
1. You need to jb or pwnd 1st before u can use this custom firmware. Meaning, u must be in jailbreak state 1st before u can proceed. Example, I currently on jb 3.0, therefore I can procced with this custom stuff.
2. Once downloaded, extract, and on iTunes, "Shift + Restore ", do not press "Shift+Update".
3. Done.

If you are on Maxis carrier, use unactivated.
